Flower Thinning Improves Fruit Quality and Oil Composition in Camellia oleifera Abel

نویسندگان

چکیده

Camellia oleifera is a woody oil tree with overlapping flower bud differentiation and fruit maturation. Therefore, mechanical harvesting of fruits leads to abscission. The present study investigated the effects number per on growth, yield, nutrient accumulation, fatty acid composition in C. oleifera. Here, we set different numbers by thinning flowers. Heavy (T2 T3) significantly reduced yield proportion palmitic, palmitoleic, linoleic, linolenic acids compared other treatments. However, heavy favored an increase size weight, seed dry kernel rate fresh fruit, soluble protein accumulation seeds, oleic stearic acids, it had no significant effect light (T1) control (T0). T2 T3 decreased sugar content kernels at later stage development (260–320 days after full bloom (DAFB)) contrast rapid growth period (200–230 DAFB). As crop load decreased, ABA increased continuously during 260–320 DAFB, while IAA 260–300 DAFB then 310–320 DAFB. These data suggest that abscission few flowers will not affect production efficiency

Beneficial Effects of Camellia Oil (Camellia oleifera Abel.) on Hepatoprotective and Gastroprotective Activities.

Epidemiological studies have shown that increased dietary intake of natural antioxidants is beneficial for health because of their bioactivities, including antioxidant and anti-inflammation actions. Camellia oil made from tea seed (Camellia oleifera Abel.) is commonly used as an edible oil and a traditional medicine in Taiwan and China. Until now, the camellia oil has been widely considered as ...

Antioxidant activity and bioactive compounds of tea seed (Camellia oleifera Abel.) oil.

The oil of tea seed (Camellia oleifera Abel.) is used extensively in China as cooking oil. The objectives of this study were to investigate the antioxidant activity of tea seed oil and its active compounds. Of the five solvent extracts, methanol extract of tea seed oil exhibited the highest yield and the strongest antioxidant activity as determined by DPPH scavenging activity and Trolox equival...

Aluminum could be transported via phloem in Camellia oleifera Abel.

Aluminum (Al) accumulation and long-distance transport in oil tea (Camellia oleifera Abel.), known to be an Al accumulator, was investigated. The average Al concentration in the embryo of oil tea seeds was 389 mg Al kg(-1) dry weight, which was higher than seeds of other Al accumulators. By partially suppressing leaf transpiration in the field, Al accumulation in leaves was depressed, which cla...

Seed Transcriptomics Analysis in Camellia oleifera Uncovers Genes Associated with Oil Content and Fatty Acid Composition

Camellia oleifera is a major tree species for producing edible oil. Its seed oil is well known for the high level of oleic acids; however, little is known regarding the molecular mechanism of lipid biosynthesis in C. oleifera. Here, we measured the oil contents and fatty acid (FA) compositions at four developmental stages and investigated the global gene expression profiles through transcriptom...

Microwave-assisted extraction of polyphenols from Camellia oleifera fruit hull.

The abundant fruit hulls of tea-oil tree (Camellia oleifera) are still underutilized and wastefully discaded to pollute the environment. In order to solve this problem and better utilize the fruit hulls of C. oleifera, a microwave-assisted extraction system was used to extract their polyphenols using water as the extraction solvent. A central composite design (CCD) was used to monitor the effec...
